More sketches

Sketches everywhere

i'm thinking like biker guy who rides around the country with a childish flower decorated motorcycle in honor of his daughter. so like the sidekick would be his daughter but the only reason she will ride around with him in the passenger motorcycle buggie was if her dad promised to paint it her favorite color.

Daira the Witch!

Meet Daira! With a sassy no-nonsense temperament and a bold wardrobe to match, Daira tries her best in her witchy ways to watch herself around insane townsfolk. Wouldn't want to be equated to something of the avian variety! No ma'am.

Daira's been alive for a few hundred years or so, but tries her best to keep up her youthful appearance. Still, she occasionally lets her hair down, particularly when her descendents are celebrating her death on Dia de los Muertos...when in reality she's still alive and kicking, even with a little less skin. Who knew witches could survive so long? More often than not, her family is always suprised by the food dissappearing from the ofrenda dedicated to her. What can she say? She cannot resist her favorite food!

Inspiration Boards

My creature was a witch. The styles I'm going to draw her in are regular clothing, Mexican, and western attire. So I plan I drawing her in traditional mexican dress, Day of the Dead inspired attire, and finally the attire of the gaucho. All with a bit of a supernatural twist.

for personal reference:
"Gaucho (gaúcho in Portuguese, gaucho in Spanish) is a term commonly used to describe residents of the South American pampas, chacos or Patagonian grasslands, found principally in parts of Argentina, Uruguay, Southern Chile and Southern Region, Brazil. In Brazil it is also used to designate people from the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The word gaucho could be described as a loose equivalent to the North American "cowboy" (vaquero, in Spanish). Like the North American word cowboy, Venezuelan or Colombian llanero, or Chilean huaso, or the Mexican charro (Vaqueiro is also a word used in Brazil), the term often connotes the 19th century more than the present day; then gauchos made up the majority of the rural population, herding cows on the vast Estancias, and practicing hunting as their main economic activities. The word "gaucho" is sometimes used to refer to chimichurri, a steak sauce common to Argentina." Source: wikipedia
In Salta province, Argentina, gauchos wear their traditional red and black ponchos with leather hats. It their very distinctive outfit. Nowadays they wear for celebrations and special days like the one when the photo was taken. They were about to parade in honor of the virgin mary.
